We'd like to introduce you to this very special and rare honey. It has been produced from the flowers of the same Kunzea Ambigua shrubs on the same property, that our incredible therapeutic Kunzea oil comes from! Native, wild and organically grown, these Kunzea shrubs thrive on this beautiful North East Tasmanian land. This small batch, exquisite Kunzea honey, has been carefully harvested and only course strained. It is never heat treated. It's in its finest and most natural form, raw, loaded with goodness and bursting with flavour. Late last year we were approached by a local beekeeper who specialises in high quality, small batch, unique (and straight from the hive) Tasmanian honey varieties. He was interested in harvesting some Kunzea honey and keen to work with us. The result is better than we could have hoped for! We can personally recommend this incredible, rare, and perfectly delicious Kunzea honey, and are thrilled to share it with you. Please note:
We encourage you to add some of our divine Kunzea honey to your order, when purchasing our other products. Products such as creams and liniments with Kunzea oil as the key ingredient, are easy ways to deliver Kunzea oil's benefits. We, along with other businesses, came to this conclusion, after learning from John Hood about what his oil could do. Tasmania’s John Hood was the first to uncover the incredible therapeutic properties of Kunzea oil; and to list his oil with the Therapeutic Goods Administration. John shared his knowledge and promoted the benefits of his amazing oil. Once people learnt what this oil could do; a range of medical and health practitioners started using it, and interest grew further around its incredible properties. A practical next step was to add this remarkable oil into products that made it easy to use and apply. Our focus and difference at Kunzea Tasmania is the value of our products having more of this incredible Kunzea oil in them. All of our topical products are ‘extra strength’. Click to read more - Why choose Kunzea Tasmania products? If you missed Part 1 of 'Our Story', we suggest you first read how everything started here. Part 2: From that initial experimentation, interest grew further and great customer feedback continued to be received. There were plenty of challenges and interruptions along the way, but we'd started something now, we had to see what might happen next! It has been an amazing learning experience – with lots of hard work and an enormous amount of time put in! We knew however that Kunzea was something special, something Tasmanian, and clearly something that people wanted. Our aim was and still is, to deliver excellent customer service, and for us to remain as a very small Tassie business. It is not our intention to mass produce and be in every store and pharmacy on every corner. Like us, most people value and want to support small businesses. Our early tests and trials, along with advice from our Kunzea grower, suggested we should offer strong products. So from the very start our plan was to develop products that were consistently strong across all our topical range. This means that no matter which of our topical products a customer prefers, they’re getting an ‘extra strength’ concentration of Kunzea oil. This is a major point of difference for us compared to other brands, and one that we’re very proud of offering. Customers regularly provide feedback that they can tell a difference with our stronger products to others they've tried. While continuing to juggle our other jobs and lives, Kunzea Tasmania has steadily grown and developed. We’ve expanded our product range over time in response to customer feedback and ideas, and have a wonderful following of loyal customers who value our products and our small business. We’ve continued handmaking everything ourselves, and while we'll need some help soon, our intention is to continue to be the primary product makers. We are humbled and surprised every day with the wonderful feedback we continue to receive through website reviews, phone calls, emails, visits to our stall and many repeat purchases. Looking ahead, Michael hopes to retire from his regular job, allowing a bit more balance with home life and supporting Kunzea Tasmania. We look forward to updating you more as our little business continues to evolve.
Kacey has a health science background, and loves investigating things! We wanted to explore what Tasmania had to offer - was there anything in 'our backyard' that we could add to our stall that might also help provide relief? We experimented with a range of beautiful Tasmanian grown and distilled essential oils, and the more we learnt, we quickly realised that Tasmanian Kunzea oil had properties like no other. Our first product was our Kunzea bath flakes, and we started selling these while we formulated, trialled, and tested some of our other products. The roll on liniment was the first topical product we developed and sold, and the feedback we got was extraordinary! This is still one of our most popular products.
These four products are offered in our 'Original set' as they were the first (original) products we developed.
Interest grew very quickly, and we had some allied health practitioners wanting to stock and use our products too. Kacey's 'play' with developing a few Kunzea products, all of a sudden started to become a bit more serious! We talk a lot about the incredible pain relieving and anti-inflammatory properties of Kunzea Ambigua oil. But did you know it also has amazing anti-fungal powers too? Studies using Kunzea oil itself, as well as research on some of its major constituents (such as alpha-pinene), have demonstrated effective anti-fungal abilities, with regular and appropriate application. We've heard great feedback from many people too, about the anti-fungal benefits they've experienced with the use of Kunzea oil. Along with being anti-fungal, Kunzea Ambigua oil also has anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties. No doubt there's still more to discover yet! Please note that we are not making any claims by providing this information. Seek individual advice from your health professional for your circumstances. There is a great amount of evidence showing that warm baths can be helpful for a whole range of health issues - both physical and mental. Warm baths may help with:
The soothing gains are even greater, by adding some of our handmade Kunzea magnesium chloride bath flakes. This popular product contains premium magnesium chloride flakes (not Epsom salts), with the glorious aroma of the Tasmanian bush. Relieve, recover, relax and enjoy. Taking the time for a warm full body soak or foot bath is well worth it. 'Pain relieving' and 'anti-inflammatory' are the two key properties that people think about most when it comes to Kunzea Ambigua oil, and its use in products for issues such as arthritis and muscle soreness. But did you know that it has other helpful properties as well - such as relieving respiratory symptoms? Some of Kunzea oil’s primary constituents, such as alpha-pinene and 1-8 cineole, are known to be effective bronchodilators when inhaled. This means they can help to open up the airways to assist with respiratory conditions; from cold and flu symptoms, to studies showing benefits for conditions such as asthma and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). Using Kunzea oil in a room diffuser or vaporiser can be one way to enjoy these benefits. Another tip (especially in the winter months), is adding some Kunzea oil to hot water in a bowl, putting a towel over your head and breathing deeply to help clear the sinuses. A full body warm bath with our relieving bath flakes or Kunzea oil is also a great option. You can use our products (eg roll on liniment or soothe oil) to rub on your chest or neck when unwell. Some people also dab a drop of Kunzea oil at the base of each nostril to inhale (do a patch test somewhere else first). However you choose to use our oil and products, remember they can be helpful for a whole range of things! Wherever possible we try to limit our impact on the environment with our packing choices. For example we clean, return and re-use bulk containers for all of our ingredients, and we keep and re-use brown paper and other packing for our stockist orders. For our retail orders we use 100% compostable 'packing peanuts' to protect products on their journey. These break down very quickly. We encourage you to re-use them where you can; add them to your compost; or simply put them in your garden and they will break down in no time! 100% compostable 'packing peanuts' break down very quickly. They are made from waste plant starch.
There are more and more Kunzea products appearing on the market. So why choose our Kunzea Tasmania products?
The Kunzea oil that we use in all of our products at Kunzea Tasmania comes from a property in the beautiful North East of the Tasmanian main island. This grower was the pioneer of Kunzea oil production; uncovering its incredible therapeutic properties and working to establish the foundation of this rapidly growing industry. The native Kunzea Ambigua shrubs on this property are organically and wild grown – they’re not watered, sprayed or fertilised. They are as natural as you can get! The Kunzea shrubs are not over-harvested either, to ensure the oil is of the highest quality. The oil we use is batch tested by the university to analyse its composition and ensure it meets all safety and quality parameters. Using the highest quality, original, TGA listed (AUST L 372260) Kunzea oil is very important to us. Not all Kunzea oil is the same!
St Johns Foot Clinic (Legana) this month mark one year of stocking our Kunzea Tasmania products! This busy podiatry practice uses our products during some of their treatments, as well as stocking them for patients to use at home. They've had great feedback and need to regularly restock as our Kunzea products are very popular at their clinics! A big thank you to St Johns Foot Clinic for supporting Kunzea Tasmania, and using and promoting our natural, Tassie made products over the last year. See our stockists page for more details.
